Nordstjernan creates global plastics group – Rosti
- Rosti acquires McKechnie, a company with SEK 800 million in sales
In 2004, Nordstjernan acquired GP Plastindustri, which at the time generated sales of SEK 250 million from its plant in Gislaved, Sweden. Since then, the company has grown – both through acquisitions and organic growth – to become a global plastics group. With its latest acquisition, British company McKechnie, the plastics group now called Rosti has seen a tenfold increase in sales to SEK 2.5 billion. Rosti now has ten plants in seven countries throughout Asia and Europe. For more information, visit www.rosti.com.
McKechnie has sales of SEK 800 million, with a workforce of 650 employees. The company has three plants in the UK. McKechnie manufactures plastic components for, among others, the automotive and packaging industries. The seller is Melrose Plc. For more information, visit www.mckechnie-plastics.co.uk.
“Creating a global plastics group has been a stimulating challenge. The company’s executive management adopted a target-oriented and business-like approach to reach the goal. McKechnie is the latest, but hopefully not the last, piece of the puzzle. We are satisfied with the development of Rosti and are continuously seeking supplementary acquisitions,” says Tomas Billing, Nordstjernan’s CEO.
“Through the acquisition of McKechnie, we are strengthening our market positions within injection molding of advanced plastic components and related manufacturing services. McKechnie enjoys a strong market position and offers its British customers a broad range of development and manufacturing services. Together, we will now be able to also offer these customers deliveries from Rosti’s plants in China, Malaysia, India, Poland, Germany and Sweden – an internationalization that is in demand today,” says Börje Vernet, Rosti’s CEO.
